Etching and External Design
To make everything look tidy I had to make some aluminium plates for the sides as well, which would also be engraved. First off I needed to do the masking and drawing to get the size and design correct.

So now this case needed a lid and for that I planned to make it with a big
Republic of Gamers logo made from aluminium. As usual when I need some CNC work done I turn to my good friend
Sleepstreamer. A few days later the logo arrived: it was made up by ten pieces of aluminium, so now the construction could begin.
Next I made my first cuts in a piece of blood red acrylic:

The pieces needed to have a brushed surface so it was time to bring out the Dremel. I used a steel brush attachment to get the surface just right.

To make the logo pop out a bit more I painted a few parts black and then fastened the whole thing to the red acrylic.

Now for the second part of the lid. A frame of black acrylic was going to be made to hold the red logo plate in place, so first thing to do was to cut a big piece of the black acrylic and then measure out the placement of the logo.
